DEEP CLEAN THE STOVE TOP

Stovetops come in various styles, each with specific details so you can properly maintain them with tender loving care.

Select your stove type below and click on the link for your specific deep-clean instructions:

Flat top stove: Cleaning a flat cooktop:

 Liberally squeeze a commercial flat cooktop cleaner or sprinkle Bar Keeper’s Friend on the flattop. The cleaner works good but Bar Keeper’s Friend make’s it effortless!!

 Use a white cleaning cloth and scrub in a circular motion. Pay special attention to areas with dried/burned on food.

 Repeat if necessary. If you use BKF you won’t have to repeat. Seriously. It’s that good!

Gas Stove: With a gas stove, I did a quick search to find the best way to clean one. I found a great site that gives step-by-step instructions for cleaning gas stove burners. According to tipnut.com, you can also use this same method for drip pans. This looks to be the easiest way to clean stove burners ever! Make sure to click over for specific instructions and pictures, but here are the bullet points for easy reference:

 Remove burners (or drip pans) and place in plastic Ziploc or trash bag.

 Pour about 1/4 cup of ammonia in the bag. You don’t need to completely cover the burners since the fumes actually do the work.

 Seal the bag.

 Place outside (so fumes don’t leak into your home) for about 12 hours.

 Remove from bag and wipe clean. Have fun today!

*****Updated: Never, EVER mix ammonia with anything that has bleach in it. It creates toxic fumes. (In general, I suggest you don’t play chemist and try to mix ammonia with anything, period.

Your assignment for today:
