Clean the Oven

Cleaning the oven is not my favorite task; in fact, I dread it. However, I’ve found that it’s easier to clean the oven when you do it more frequently. Today, let’s tackle this project together using one of the three methods outlined below. Since we cleaned the oven earlier this year, it should be a bit easier this time!

**Method 1: Self-Cleaning Feature**

I’ve used the self-cleaning feature in the past, but I approach it with caution. The oven door locks, it heats up to a very high temperature, and after 6 hours, the door unlocks, revealing a magically clean oven! Is it worth it? Maybe not. You can’t leave the house during the process, and using the self-cleaning feature may do more harm than good. Use it with caution!

**Method 2: Conventional Oven Cleaner**

A conventional oven cleaner is actually a pretty hassle-free way to clean the oven. You typically just need to spray it on, let it soak for a few minutes, and then wipe it away. Keep in mind that most conventional oven cleaners contain a lot of chemicals. If that concerns you, consider using a natural oven cleaner instead.

**Method 3: DIY Oven Cleaner**

I’ve used a baking soda and vinegar mixture to clean my very dirty oven before, and it worked quite well. It didn’t achieve a perfect clean, as I hadn’t cleaned my oven in two years. However, if you clean your oven regularly, this method should work just fine!

**Natural Oven Cleaner Recipe**

Ingredients:

– Nylon pan scraper

– Baking soda

– Vinegar

– Dish rag/towel/sponge

Directions:

1. Using a nylon pan scraper, scrape off any dried food from the oven floor.

2. Sprinkle baking soda generously across the bottom of the oven, focusing on the dirty areas.

3. Spray or pour vinegar over the baking soda. Allow the mixture to work until the bubbling stops.

4. Use the scraper again if needed, and wipe away any debris with a towel. If it has been two years since your last cleaning, you may need to repeat the process.
