How to Clean the Bathroom Toilet

To deep clean your toilet inside and out, you first want to grab all of your supplies.

  • Toilet brush
  • Toilet cleaner
  • Pumice stone if you need to remove a rust ring (you’ll want some gloves too!)
  • Use a small, hard-bristled brush, but an old toothbrush will do in a pinch.
  • All-purpose cleaner or disinfectant cleaner
  • 2 cleaning cloths
  • Screwdriver

Next, clean the inside of your toilet.

  • Squirt the toilet bowl cleaner under the rim and let sit.
  • Scrub with the toilet bowl brush.
  • Flush.
  • Use the Pumice stone if needed.

Next, clean the outside of your toilet.

  • Squirt disinfectant cleaner all over the toilet.
  • Use the small, hard-bristled brush to deep-clean all of the crevices around the seat and the base of the toilet.
  • Wipe away grime with one of the cleaning rags.
  • Repeat the disinfection process if needed. Pay attention to the seat, under the seat cover, around the base, and handle.
  • Rinse and dry with the second cleaning rag.

Finally, do a little maintenance.

  • Use your screwdriver to tighten the seat.
