“Deep clean kitchen cabinets” is code for “give those cabinet doors a wipe down!”
With the continual opening and closing of kitchen cabinet doors, oils and dirt from hands are often left behind on the door. It’s just a normal part of wear and tear. That doesn’t mean your cabinets can’t stay looking new.
Periodically, they just need a little TLC. And that’s exactly what we’re going to do today.
GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES
• Microfiber cloth
• Rainbow with hose, dusting tool, crevice tool
• Nylon pan scraper
• All-purpose Cleaner
SET A TIMER
Your goal is clear: TLC for the kitchen cabinets. Ten minutes? Thirty minutes? Three hours?
It’s your kitchen and your call. Set a timer and knock it out!
DEEP CLEAN KITCHEN CABINETS
If you have light-colored cabinets, you can probably see the dirt covering your cabinets. If you have dark cabinets, you may not be able to see the dirt, but rest assured it’s there! Take a few minutes today to scrub down the cabinets.
Here’s how…
Supplies Needed:
• Microfiber cloth. You don’t want to use an abrasive material to clean the cabinets or you could scratch the wood/coating.
• Rainbow with hose, dusting tool, crevice tool
• Scraper. It will help you remove that stuck-on gunk without damaging your cabinets.
• All-purpose cleaner. Equal parts vinegar and water mixture will work just as well.
Instructions:
First, use your Rainbow to remove any loose dirt and dust from the interior and exterior. Starting on one side of the upper-level cabinets, use the all-purpose cleaner and microfiber cloth to wipe down the entire cabinet. Pay particular attention to areas that are touched often like the knobs and edges. As you come across dried food spatters, use the scraper to remove them easily.
When one cabinet is finished, continue around the room and complete the entire top level of cabinets. Then move to the bottom.
NOTE: Not all kitchen cabinetry is created equal. The three most common types of cabinets are wood, laminate, and Thermafoil. While there are many wood polishers on the market, I recommend spending a more concentrated effort on cleaning the grease and grime from the cabinets first. The cleaning methods described above works well for most cabinet types, however, you may choose to research further and shine and polish yours once they are spic and span!
Cleaning your cabinets is a simple task but can make a big impact in the cleanliness of your kitchen!
